Event Information

The Race4STEAM 5K is organized by Jump Institute in partnership with Jones Racing Company.  Proceeds will directly benefit Jump-Institute and race partner 100 Gardens.  Jump-In is increasing socio-economic mobility across the Charlotte region by offering a peer-to-peer question and answer online learning community that engages diverse student populations in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math (STEAM). 100 Gardens is a non-profit focused on providing STEM based learning opportunities by implementing aquaponics programs in schools, institutions, and communities in need.  Both organizations look to engage more students in STEM education and the Arts, outside of traditional coding programming.  In doing so, students are more readily prepared to pursue studies and careers in fields with higher pay.  Our goal is to impact 5000 students in the Charlotte area by 2020.  We need your support!

  • 7:00am: Race Day Registration Opens/Packet Pick Up
  • 7:45am: Registration Closes
  • 8:00am: 1 Mile Starts
  • 8:30am: 5K Starts
  • 9:30am: Projected awards ceremony (will be adjusted based on last finisher’s time)
 

This event will be timed using a bibtag timing chips. The timing chip will be on the back of the run number. Please make sure your number is clearly visible on the front of your body. This will not need to be turned back in after the race – it is disposable. It will be a chip time start. That means your time will not start until you reach the start timing mat. Make sure your number is clearly visible on the front of your body. Gun Time is the time the gun/horn started the event. Chip Time is the time your chip crossed the start timing mat. The awards for this event are based on Chip Time.

Parking for the event will be in and around the Blue Blaze Brewery. There is plenty of street parking available.
